LA 101

Disclaimer

LA101 consists of a program of approximately one month during which approximately 10-30 actors will have an opportunity to perform prepared pieces and/or cold readings from scripts. The readings will take place with other actors and guest instructors, such as casting directors and agents. The intent of LA101 is to provide instruction of a solely educational nature. A written curriculum for each instructor is available to participants upon request. At a minimum, each workshop includes the following:

A reading and Q & A of disclaimers; an open general question and answer period/forum; individual and in-depth critiques in a situation similar to what an audition might be like; performance adjustments and/or feedback; audition techniques; the business of acting; office etiquette; demystifying the audition process; how casting procedures differ between pilots, features, episodics and the like; advice on seeking representation; general industry trends in casting; and review of headshots and résumés.

LA101 is not a job interview or audition. The presence of a casting director or agent is neither a guarantee nor a promise of employment. Attending LA101 is not a way to obtain employment as an actor. Such contact as you may have with a casting director or agent at a workshop rarely results in any further contact with that casting director or agent, or any company affiliated with that casting director or agent.

The LA101 event does not represent in any manner, either singly or collectively, that attendees have been successful in gaining auditions, interviews or employment as a result of meeting a casting director or agent through a workshop, nor that certain casting directors and agents have a preference for hiring or interviewing attendees at a particular workshop, nor that the workshop has any purpose other than an educational one. Casting directors and agents participate in LA101 as individual professionals and not as representatives of particular organizations, and do not audition actors for particular roles. Professionals who are actively working in the industry are invited to participate because of the level of education, information, and experience they impart.
